EAV has prepared and serviced many Turntables for International DJs, Clubs, Hire Companies and Shops. This experience has led to various techniques and modifications aimed at making the DEX more like Musical Instruments than the Karaoke machines they were designed as.

This includes
• Fitting of an EAV ModPitch control
• Fitting a 1.5M OFC RCA cable and removing the Earthwire
  Nothing more annoying than trying to use it as a third deck and the standard lead won't reach!
• Factory setup, lube, clean, balance and service
  On numerous occasions I have had faults of Dex suddenly feeding back and found the Platter bearing dry and worn. Replacing the Shaft Assembly cures the fault....Correct Lubrication is very important. Also correct Height, Anti-Skate and Cartridge alignment is essential... Did you know the SL1200 internal clock speed is 262.08kHz ± 0.05kHz?

EAV "MOD-PITCH" CONTROLS

EAV recognised that one of the weakest but most important parts of an SL1200MK2+ is the Pitch control. Even when brand new they feel bad and that annoying "jump" in the centre must have ruined many a mix.
EAV takes a standard Technics pitch control and turns it into a precision fader. The fader is stripped to the metal frame and packed with CAIG 100% CaiLube while the resistive track is conditioned with CAIG 100% ProGold. The ball-bearing that "clicks" in the "Zero" position is removed. The necessary circuit modifications to disable the "Zero Pitch" feature are done internally and the unit assembled and tested. The final control feels smooth with no indents and provides an accurate transparent control of the Turntable's speed.
Please note: Technics changed the pitch control early in the SL1200MK2's life. Early models of the MK2 require a special part that includes the new style control with a new circuit board.

Many people have asked us about Blue LEDs for SL1200 dex and although there are many versions available on the web at many different prices, the reality is the cost of the LEDs themselves is negligable. The most common problems are mistakes made while fitting them... from damaging the "Strobe Board" by excess heat.. to accidently wiring the LEDs backwards.. to messing up the "Popup Light" mechanism.. etc etc.. The average DJ can't be expected to have the necessary skills to install an LED kit without hurting themselves or the Deck! so consider this when purchasing them online

EAV does not sell the LED-KIT, but we supply the LED-KIT FREE when you have it installed by us.

TECHNICS 1200 SERVICE

On average most TECHNICS SL1200 service jobs require 1 hour labour.(see Service Rates)
This is usually enough time to change 2 parts (ie Pitch control and Lamp), clean, lube, perform a factory setup, balance, play Vinyl and run on test. Extra parts usually require an extra 0.25 hour per item.
